Natural Light Studio


Studio South is a rentable natural light studio for photographers, content creators, and videographers. 

Equipped with signature and seasonal backdrops, studio lights, gear accessories, furniture, props, and the space to bring your creative vision to life.


Studio South is a 450 sq. ft.  open concept creative space with real hardwood white oak floors, ample natural light, large west-facing windows (hello dreamy afternoon light!), white walls, and exposed brick.

Not only is it beautiful, but it's flexible. You are welcome to utilize any of the amenities, furniture, props, or bring your own and transform the space to your liking! In addition to paper seamless backdrops and curated fabric backdrops, there is an 8x8' movable wall that acts as a room divider, giant reflector, and additional background.

We also offer supplemental gear like studio lighting, phone and camera tripods, and high speed wifi!

Studio FAQ's

How do I book?

All booking is done conveniently online! You will receive directions to the building as well as a unique lock code to access the key to the suite. When you are done, lock the door and put the key back in the lockbox. If you are looking to book a pop-up, please contact us directly at

Are dogs/pets allowed in the studio?

Trained animals and service animals are allowed in the studio. Do not walk around the inside of the building with them. You are responsible for all damages caused by pets brought to the studio.

What about food and drink?

Heck yeah! We love a celebratory photoshoot and snacks. We’ve got plenty of cleaning supplies on-hand and you have access to our mini-fridge.

P.S. If you are using confetti, you must bring something to cover the floor. The floors are real hardwood and brand new, so please please use with care. ABSOLUTELY NO GLITTER. 

How private is Studio South?

Studio South is located inside the Watermarq Suites in Downtown Marquette. It is a very quiet building with other professionals working inside their own suites. There are privacy curtains in on every window and entrance, should you need them.

Once inside, you have the space all to yourself! All equipment is beginner-friendly and we trust our creators to use it accordingly. Should you have questions about the use of anything, you’re more than welcome to contact us!

Can I host workshops/ events in the studio?

This space is perfect for relaxed gatherings with 10 people or fewer. Pop-up shops and workshops may need additional permits.

What is included in the fee?

Payment is due at the time of booking. Use of all of the space and the studio amenities, private parking, setup, and cleanup is included in your reservation fee. You can absolutely bring your own props, backdrops, installations, etc.! 

Can I host a mini session event in the studio?

ABSOLUTELY! We've had many photographers host successful mini session events at Studio South. We recommend booking 4 or 8 hours for these events so that you have plenty of time to set up, take photos, clean up, and reset the space.

Can I extend my time if I need more?

Absolutely! As long as there is not another booking immediately following your session, you can extend your time by 60 minutes and will be invoiced.

Setup and cleanup are included in the reservation, and we ask that you ‘reset the studio’ when you are finished so that it is ready for the next reservation. A 2-hour reservation is enough time to shoot for at least 60-90 minutes.

What if I break something?

Things happen. If you break or damage anything, please just notify us right away by messaging on Instagram or sending an email to so that we can plan accordingly for the next renters. We'll assess the situation and discuss payment for repairs/replacement if necessary.

What are the studio policies?

A payment and signed contract is required to book the space. Must be 18+ with a valid email and phone number. 

It is your responsibility to use the space and all amenities with care, and clean up after yourself and your clients. Dispose of any food/drink and bring the all garbage out with you. During your reservation, you are liable for all actions inside the studio. Ensure that your clients/associates behave accordingly and respect the space.

Set up and reset are included in the reservation time. Reset includes light cleaning of surfaces and floors, and putting the furniture back where it was when you arrived. Please plan your booking accordingly. If you go over the time limit, there is a $50 charge. If you'd like to extend your time, please contact us right away and, if available, you'll receive confirmation and invoice for additional time.

If you need a last-minute booking or don’t see your needed date on the schedule, please contact us so that we can try to accommodate!

No smoking, vaping, or drug use is allowed.
No excessive noise or loud music out of respect for neighboring businesses.
No smoke bombs, glitter, open flames, or candles allowed.
Do not hang things from the ceiling unless previously approved.
If you hang things on the walls, you must use non-damaging hooks and remove them when you are done. 

If you use the seamless paper backdrops extended on the floor and they are excessively dirty or damaged after your reservation, you will be invoiced an additional $25 at our discretion.

The building is continuously monitored through video surveillance. By accepting these regulations and booking the studio during, you are giving consent to both video and audio capture throughout your allotted period. You also acknowledge that, as the lessee, it is your responsibility to inform your clients/parties/visitors about this stipulation and acquire any necessary approvals or waivers for this audio and video monitoring. If there are any wardrobe adjustments needed, you may make use of the office area in the suite or the shared restrooms in the building. The lessee and their clients/parties/visitors are informed that there is no presumption of full privacy within the premises except.


All deposits are non-refundable. No exceptions.
Rescheduling your time slot is very easy and can be done within 48 hours of your reservation. You just have to click 'reschedule' on your confirmation email and a calendar will pop up with available dates. If you need to reschedule on the day of the reservation, it is considered a same day cancellation and will be subject to a $50 fee.

There will be no refunds or credits on unused time. 

In the rare case that we have to cancel your time, a full refund will be given. Studio South is not liable for any loss of income due to cancelation.
